My SONY Bravia and HD Programming

June 3, 2009

I have always wanted a plasma/HDTV television set, preferably one with 1080p resolution, due to the increased picture quality. Not far from my house was a Fry‘s, a store that I consider to be one that has the best range of electronic appliances, including television sets.

The line of SONY Bravia has always been appealing to me, considering the fact that SONY always manufacture top-of-the-range electronics. I had in mind something in the range of 42 to 50 inches. I love watching my NBA games, especially now during the Finals. Nothing beats watching Kobe’s prowess in high-definition. Trust me, once you switch to HD programming you won’t look back.

I now get my HD programming from Dish Net Work. They have some of the best options. Take, for example, their TurboHD package. They have TurboHD Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Their most basic only starts at $9.99 a month but if you order Classic Bronze 100 (formerly known as America’s Top 100) you get TurboHD Bronze free for 6 months.

Anyways, back to my SONY Bravia. I finally settled for a magnificent 46-inch plasma screen. The technicians over at Fry’s installed it in my living room in no time. The following day I got Dish Network set up. I spent a good 20 minutes on the Dish programming page on their site choosing which package to go with. Seeing that I was now the proud owner of a 46-inch plasma it only made sense for me to complement it with some HD programming.

I therefore chose Dish Network’s “Everything” Pak (which has over 250 channels) How much for all of this ? $72.98 per month. Now that’s a great deal, if you ask me, or anybody for that matter. I also get movies and NBA TV, which allows me to follow my games. Too bad my wife isn’t an ardent follower of basketball. She prefers watching the Oxygen Channel, something I never watch !

SONY have really outdone themselves when it comes to making these high-end television sets that have changed the way we watch TV. Pop in a DVD and the image literally jumps out of the screen ! The highlights of my day is when I connect my BluRay-enabled Sony VAIO (yes, I love SONY products) to the TV and watch a movie. The picture quality is out of this world. You have to see it to believe it.

Bundle a plasma or LCD with the digital picture you get from Dish Network I guarantee you will be stuck on your couch. It’s a mind-blowing experience.

Finally Getting Dish Net Work.

June 2, 2009

I purchased a beautiful big flat screeen TV for my husband last Father’s Day. I can’t tell you what it is, a Sony “something expensive” is what I kept calling it.
The kids wrapped it up and we stood in front of it for 20 minutes waiting his arrival. When he came in, he took one look at the large package and screamed, “Yes…yes…now I get Dish Net work!!” I had no idea he was waiting to upgrade to Dish Network due to the incredible HD options and the outstanding movie packages.
Our living room has turned into the local theatre for all the kids. I was a little upset that he was more excited about Dish than the TV but when I saw the difference, I understood. Before Dish Network, the big TV hung on the wall and we watched. After Dish Network, we sit in this room and are transported into the movies. Dish Network’s selection makes every night movie night!

May 4, 2009

By the HDTV’s popularity these days, Samsung HDTV becomes the leading brand amid the strict competition. This is because the company is constantly developing and improving Samsung HDTV to give customers the best possible HDTV quality at the lowest possible price.

The Technology and Features of Samsung HDTV

Yes, there are standard technologies of HDTV but Samsung HDTVs make difference, they integrate their own innovations. An integrated technology in Samsung HDTVs is known as DNIe™ Technology. These boasts of giving viewers a contrast enhancer, motion optimizer, color optimizer and detail enhancer. The motion optimizer is functional in fast moving images.

These optimized fast moving images will give it a more natural-looking motion and thus reducing video blurring and noise. The contrast enhancer enhances the levels of brightness and contrast. This provides is for deeper, richer blacks with great detail, and more natural whites.

In the DNIe™ Technology, the detail enhancer is used to analyze video signal elements. The purpose of this is to produce sharper detail, clearer image separation, and better natural edge transition. Despite the fact that the color optimizer reproduces color with a more life-like realism, skin tones are given a natural hue and whites are more accurate.

For the avid gamers, Samsung HDTV also has something to enhance the gamers’ experience of gaming by providing diverse game mode options. Included these are Sports Game Mode for fast action sports games, Adventure Game Mode for those Role Playing Games, and the Standard game Mode for games that do not belong to the first two game modes.

Samsung HDTV is well outfitted in resolution. It gives a 1080p progressive resolution (1920 x 1080). This means that it can accommodate newer digital formats of games and movies and it can show any of the resolutions being used in today’s broadcast format. With this sort of resolution, viewers are assured that none of the images are being thrown off for the sake of accommodation.

It is worth to purchase a Samsung HDTV for an entertainment room as it is considered as one of the best units. It has three HDMI to give viewers the highest possible sound quality and video quality that their entertainment tastes need.

Also, you can directly plug a Samsung HDTV to a computer without using a converter as it has a built-in PC Input. It also has a USB port. So, you can take pleasure in listen to music and watch your pictures by connecting it to your mobile MP3 players or other gadgets such as digital cameras.

Shopping a LCD HDTV - What Must You See before Choosing One?

April 14, 2009

Just like any other product, people would always want one that has good quality but still is affordable when buying LCD HDTV. Yet, because many manufacturers claim that they have the best quality as well as most affordable LCD HDTV, then how do you make a choice? Indeed, there are some aspects you should know to get the best one.

Know Why You Want A LCD HDTV

Knowing why you want such product is the most important thing you have to mull over before making a transaction. Try to ask yourself why you want a LCD HDTV first. Then, you will have point of reference as regards what kind of LCD HDTV set you want as well as what kind of features do you want it to have.

It is Time to Choose

There are a range of aspects you have to observe when choosing. The first is quality. There are three main details you have to consider when assessing for quality including color depth, maximum resolution, and refresh rate. In terms of color depth you can evaluate this by basically looking at the colors – green is green and not yellow green, black is black and not darkish gray, white is white rather than dirt or yellowish white, etc. Having high color depth would give you better picture as well as color quality.

The next comes refresh rate. You can assess for the refresh rate through individually trying the LCD HDTV out. Ask an attendant to play an action film or anything that will occupy quick as well as fast movements. You would know that a LCD HDTV has a good refresh rate when these fast movements on screen have smooth and fluid-like transitions.

The average LCD HDTVs attinable in the market have maximum resolutions of 720p and 1080p and the higher the number the better it is. So, if you want to have better resolution, you have to choose a set that offer a resolution of 1080p. It may really not come cheap but a better resolution will really provide good results.

Apart from the image quality, you have to also consider other features of the features of the LCD HDTV unit. An example would be the sound output. Although your unit provides you with the best image quality but if it gives off low quality sound, then it still wouldn’t provide total entertainment. Another feature you may want to take a look at if the set comes with its own HDTV tuner or not.

It is humanly that people have a range of requirements but the budget is not unlimited unfortunately. So, you have to adjust the product’s features with your budget. Otherwise, you can delay while you are saving up a little more money so that you can reach your dream HDTV.

Discover How High Def Tv Can Help You Better Enjoy Your Coffee

January 2, 2009

My dreams came true this past Christmas. Santa brought me a Tassimo coffee brewing station, and a 52” plasma TV; just in time for the NFL playoffs! There is nothing better than sitting back with a cup of gourmet coffee in front of your new high def television. But as I learned, when it comes to putting together a home theater display, there are many more options than just the size of the TV.

There are several considerations or rules of thumb when it comes to choosing a TV, and the relative size of the viewing area is the first. The rule is that you will want on average around 5-and-a-half inches of diagonal screen width for every foot away from the monitor you will be seated. The rule comes in at 5 inches per foot for basic signaled picture, and 6 inches per foot if you are watching in high definition.

Keep in mind, however, that this is just a guide. When it comes to the size of the TV, general exceptions should be made when the set will be placed in two story great rooms or rooms with vaulted ceilings. These situations might actually call for a larger television, especially if you plan to mount it up higher. On the flip side, rooms located in basements or with drop-ceilings might actually be better suited for a smaller set. You really must consider all of these factors when selecting the television that will best suit your needs and wants.

The next part of choosing your TV involves the type or kind of set you purchase. Now, I am going to assume that most of you are not going to be buying an old-fashioned knob and tube set, or even a projection TV. The prices of high def sets have come down in recent years, making them accessible to just about anyone.

You will find that LCD sets are slightly cheaper than plasma overall. However, LCD televisions may not be your best choice if you or your guests will be viewing from anywhere other than directly in front of the set itself. In other words, LCD TVs don’t look good from the side. In addition to this, if your TV is in a room that is filled with a lot of bright sunlight, an LCD may not be the best choice either.

On another note, plasma televisions are a little more fragile and may experience problems over a shorter period of time. If you buy a plasma like I did, always purchase the extended warranty just in case.

Finally, you need to look at the overall function of the set. In other words, will this be your main TV set for big events like the Superbowl, or a kitchen mounted set for you to watch while you fix your morning coffee? The reason this is important is because of the way you may need to work out your budget. Obviously, sports viewing needs to be crisp and clear, and that means spending a little more money!

I hope these simple ideas will help you as you look for that dream set over the next few weeks. Trust me, your coffee will taste a whole lot better too! Ha!

Picking HDTV - Three Aspects You Need to Consider

December 23, 2008

Principally, there are three main things that you should consider when buying a set of HDTV. The first is the screen kind and the second is the technology used. Then, check whether the HDTV is complemented with tuner or not.

HDTV Screen Types

There are two options of HDTV screenkinds available to choose from. Standard size is the first kind that has a 4:3 ratio display, it is much like a normal TV. The other is wide screen that has a 16:9 ratio display. This kind resembles movie theater screen and considered as standard format of HDTV. The screen kind is also suggested for watching HDTV shows.

HDTV Technologies

Direct view is the most usually used kind that still using the standard Cathode Ray Tube (CRT). It has its own unique advantages and disadvantages. Nevertheless it will eventually become obsolete as newer technologies are developed that give viewers more features, potential cost savings, clearer as well as brighter picture quality. This kind is quite pricey to manufacture therefore the high price. It is also limited to the size of screen with its largest being only 36 inches.

The newer technologies of HDTV such as Plasma TVs, LCD (Liquid Crystal Display), LCOS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon), and DLP (Digital Light Processor). Just like with the Direct view technology, each of them has its own advantages as well as disadvantages. However the fact can’t be denied that these newer HDTV technologies can generate equally the same or better picture quality.

When it comes to the sizes, both Plasma TVs and LCDs have advantage. In general they are available in compact form and mostly are only a few inches thick. It means that these sets weigh lesser and you’ll have more options as to where to put them around the house.

With or Without a Tuner

Some HDTV sets have an integrated tuner in them while other sets do not. Compared to the alternative sets, purchasing a set without the tuner is somehow the more advantageous choice for a few reasons. In the main, without an integrated tuner, manufacturers can keep the prices sets down. The sizes of these sets can still be compact.

The subsequent advantage of these sets is in terms of upgrading. These days, technology is rapidly developing. What is state-of-the art today may become obsolete tomorrow. Having a separate tuner will help you evade replacing the whole set with tuner when you decide to improve to a newer HDTV tuner technology.

Last of all, most of cable as well as satellite providers are in truth, will give you their own tuners. So, you don’t need to spend much money a HDTV and can get stacks of savings.

December 22, 2008

BRAVIA XBR HDTVs are the benchmark by which other HDTVs are measured, and the great features on the XBR6 are a testament to this fact. Technologies with exclusive motion and brilliant color deliver amazing XBR performance.

XBR6 Series HDTVs come with Sony’s innovative DMex technology which makes them the tv of the future by having a platform on which devices that haven’t even been created can be connected to. Imagine having a “complete” Sony experience in your home. The ability to control everything with one remote, with HDMI-CEC compatibility, is a huge bonus and a very convenient feature. Other features include DLNA compliance, an exclusive PhotoTV HD, incredible sound, portability, and a whole lot more. Ofcourse, the price might not be considered “budget”, but remember, you get what you pay for the Sony XBR line is not one to dissapoint!

Significance Of Customer Satisfaction

December 17, 2008

Do you advertise online? Many Big corporations spend thousands of dollars through out the year in advertisement. These firms spend cash on TV advertisements, newspaper advertisements, pay lot of buy ad spots in magazines. With internet getting popular more and more firms are spending lot of money in online advertisements as well. However how many of those firms track if these advertisements bringing those sales figures they
expect? Well some of them might be.What is the most effective method of advertising to improve your sales? Let’s find out. This is what I found in one of the sites recently.

I have been thinking of getting a HDTV for my house. Naturally I went to google and searched through the HDTV reviews available online. I found that most of the Samsung HDTV models are rated high by most of the reviews. Few years back I wouldn’t have imagined Samsung beating Sony HDTV models. But they have done it through their excellent quality products and customer service. How important is customer service and after sales service? Take a look at Toshiba. One of their HDTV models 42RV530U is high definition television with awesome picture quality and features. But if you see the customer reviews of this Toshiba HDTV, you will see that there are few customers who are very disappointed with the poor customer service from Toshiba. Will it affect the sales of this TV? You bet… Look at the best selling HDTV models of 2008. Even Philips managed to get inside the list with their eco friendly HDTV, where as Toshiba is nowhere in top 10, despite of their excellent quality products. Continue reading…

Don’t you think that if Toshiba took extra care of their users they would have had lot more sales. They surely would. The word of mouth is the most effective advertisement for any company and is free. A satisfied customer will inform about your product to all his friends and relatives and they in turn will recommend it to their friends and families. The potential is exponential. And when it comes to sales a satisfied user can bring in more sales than any ads out there. There is point spending millions of dollars in advertisements if you can’t get satisfied customers. All the money you spent to bring in new customers will be waste if you can’t offer them good service. It is high time that sellers understand the importance of customer care especially in today’s highly competitive market. If you are running a firm or promoting a product on internet, remember this. Are you really making your consumers happy?

Watch Your Movies With Plasma Television

November 1, 2008

Guys, you may want to cover your eyes for this bit of information. The plasma TV was not developed by men wanting a better viewing experience for their favorite sports. There, the truth has been let out of the bag, so to speak. Walk into any electronics or television store and you will see LCD and plasma television screens, but the first plasma screen television was invented to be used as a computer monitor.

It all began in 1964 at the University of Illinois. At this time, computer monitors were simple televisions. You have to realize that the televisions at this time were cathode ray tubes.

plasma [uc]tv[/uc]
They had to continuously refresh themselves in order to display correctly. That was a big problem when using a television as a computer monitor. Sure it was okay for watching tv shows, but the resolution for computers was terrible. By the end of the year the first plasma monitor was in operation.

Today’s plasma [uc]tv[/uc] has millions of cells that comprise the color and resolution of the screen. That initial plasma monitor was only one cell. However, it was still a step in the right direction. There was a set back, though. Liquid crystal displays became the more acceptable method and plasma technology was put on hold. Fast forward a few years and large flat screen sets became widely popular.

best plasma television
Where would the world be without technology constantly pushing it forward? Sure a plasma TV did not put man on the moon or allow for cell cloning, but it was a huge development at the time and has greatly affected the economy. Three years ago a plasma television 42 inch wide was considered only for the rich and famous. Today, many consumers can now afford to own one of the panasonic plasma tv technological marvels.

Thank you scientists at the University of Illinois for bringing men and women everywhere the ability to watch games on a plasma TV. Where would technology be if necessity had not demanded you devise a new computer monitor? We would probably still be watching our big screen television sets and never knowing that a clearer picture was possible at a decent price.
