Getting to Know your LCD Plasma Television
November 27, 2008
Back in 1983, IBM sandwiched neon and xenon gas between two plates of glass and excited the gas with electrical impulses, creating the first plasma display. This 19-inch screen glowed orange on a black background and was the beginning of the flat panel television revolution. Fujitsu introduced color monitors in 1992, but it was not until 1997 that Pioneer began selling plasma televisions to the public.
Although originally designed in 21-inch televisions, plasma televisions showed many advantages over the then-popular projection screen televisions, including brighter pictures with very little distortion when viewed from the side. The popularity of plasma televisions quickly grew along with the screen size and during their first years on the market dominated the over-40-inch monitor business.
The plasma television is not bulky and unwieldy like the CRT’s tube-like screens of yesteryear and they can be as big as 103 inches, measured from corner to corner. You will see that this TV is two panels of glass which hold a mixture of neon and xenon gases in a static state. Using electricity, the gases turn into a plasma-like mixture which reacts with a glowing substance to beam out light which then turns into a picture.
Without a big and bulky tube inside of it, the LCD plasma television is typically less than 50 pounds, depending on the size that you purchase. Because it is so light, you can even mount it on the wall which frees up shelf or floor space. However, you must make sure that you mount the plasma television on a wall stud for the strongest anchor.
Fortunately, for the buying public, LCD television manufacturers refused to give in. While happy to have the computer monitor business and that of television consumers who were satisfied with the smaller screens, the technology and manufacturing techniques improved, allowing larger screens to work their way into the market. Today, the price of plasma televisions has fallen to keep them competitive with the LCD market.
Some of the first large screen plasma televisions commanded high prices of $10,000 or more and today are half that, or less. They are also slightly heavier than their LCD counterparts, but still light enough and thin enough to easily mount on the wall. Floor stands are typically included with plasma televisions for standing on tables or stands with the hanging hardware being optional for most manufacturers.
Another advantage of high definition plasma televisions, is they are already set up for digital images as well as sound, making them ideal for use with surround sound systems. The 13:9 aspect ratio of plasma televisions also allow for a better theater-like experience for in-home viewing of movies. Plasma monitors also have a better dark room black level that makes black appear real black instead of a dark red or brown found with many LCD televisions.

Knowing About What Is Bluetooth For Your Phone
November 24, 2008
It seems there is no end to the number of different electronic products that are now integrating Bluetooth technology into their design. This is great news for many who are savvy about this mobile wireless technology, but there are still many people who are not familiar with it and find themselves asking, “What is Bluetooth?”
Bluetooth mobile wireless technology has become one of the leading technologies for wireless communication world wide. The reason it has become so popular around the globe, in just a few short years since its introduction, is because Bluetooth technology allows phones, computers, PDAs and other electronic devices to easily communicate with the other Bluetooth enabled devices nearby. The range of Bluetooth wireless technology networking is limited to a short range of about 30 feet.
bluetooth technology
Bluetooth utilizes radio waves, in the non-licensed range of 2.4 Gigahertz. The Bluetooth wireless system has been designed with the intention of providing a secure and an inexpensive way to connect with and exchange information between other Bluetooth devices, all without the need of wires.
What is Bluetooth primarily utilized for? This mobile wireless technology is the most popular method of wireless communication. It is found in most of the latest models of PDAs, handheld computers, laptops, printers, and, of course, cell phones, as well as many other devices which can benefit from wireless connectivity.
In addition to the Bluetooth wireless phone models, which are probably the most prevalent type of Bluetooth devices on the market, you can now also find bluetooth wireless headphones and Bluetooth wireless speakers. It is expected that other Bluetooth wireless audio and video products will continue to be brought to the marketplace.
mobile wireless technology
With this type of advancement, it is conceivable that some day the only wires you will need to tame, will be the power cords that some of these devices will need for their power supply. That would be a welcomed change from the tangles of cords and wires that are common in home offices and entertainment areas.
One of the best features, is that all Bluetooth enabled devices function on a standard protocol. This means that all transmission of data and voice signals between two Bluetooth devices, even if they are produced by different manufacturers, is straightforward and simple to implement.
It was the need for a standardized communication convention that prompted the development of Bluetooth technology. Rather than the need for each manufacturer to establish their own standards, and thereby limit the connectivity to other devices made by the same company, they can simply implement the Bluetooth wireless technology networking standard. This simple approach has made Bluetooth a global solution used by all manufacturers and benefiting the end-user significantly.
bluetooth wireless headphones
Some of the other advantages of Bluetooth are: data transfers that are fast; communication with other Bluetooth devices that are not in a direct line of sight (as required by the infra-red protocol); inexpensive circuitry and components; the ability to transmit both data and voice concurrently.
Bluetooth mobile wireless technology was introduced to the market almost a decade ago. One reason it was quickly utilized by many manufacturers, and why the price of it has been kept low, is because Ericsson (the original developer) made the specifications royalty-free to use. Because of this, the use of Bluetooth technology is expected to expand and soon no one will be left asking the question, “What is Bluetooth?”

How a Dish DVR works - A Brief Explanation.
November 16, 2008
A Dish DVR (Digital Video Recording) records programs at the highest possible levels of quality. Using a DVR system people can view programs that have already aired. The picture looks exactly as it would if the viewer had seen the show when it originally aired. When people record using their VCRs, taped shows appear darker and have lesser resolutions. When viewing tapes, people can tell they are watching recordings. With a Dish DVR, viewers can actually pause broadcasts for bathroom breaks or any other interludes that force them to leave their televisions. When people return to their TVs, they press play, and their shows resume.

You Should Buy Blu-ray Movies
November 6, 2008
Blu-ray movies are really cool. With them you get the best picture quality. High def is where the world is headed. After watching blu-ray I can’t even watch regular DVDs anymore. I saw Spiderman 2 on blu-ray the other and it couldn’t even compare to when I watch it on regular DVD a couple of years back. Not only the picture is improved, but so is the sound generated. There is not enough that can be said about how wonderful these blu-ray discs are.
I bought a high def TV, and when I view normal TV programming or even DVD movies it seems like a waste of my time. In realty it not even a good way to waste my day. I’d rather read a book then watch crapy TV (and that’s saying a lot). There are HD channels available, so that makes it better, but still I wish everything looked like blu-ray DVDs.
A lot of people have been put off blu-ray because they feel it’s too expensive. Yeah sure you pay a little more, but the quality is so worth it. It is not even that expensive really. You can buy blu-ray movies if you look for them. In reality they don’t cost all that much. One thing that can be said for sure is that they are worth the cost. Even if the cost was $75 each I’d still probably buy them. Quality is what I look for over price.
Considering how far tech has come in such a short time I can’t imagine where it will be in another 20 or even 40 years. In reality pouring over all that stuff in your mind is of no value. I will just live in the present. This is my reasoning why I don’t understand why people don’t pay the little more for the quality cheap blu-ray player. I can concede they can cost a pretty penny, but the are worth it for sure. I don’t think I could cope without mine, not to sound insane.
Expanding Your Options Using The Dish Network Satellite TV
November 4, 2008
These days it seems that more and more people just cannot get enough entertainment programming. They love to have ready access to the television shows and movies that are being talked about by their friends, at work and in the media, and many people feel they just are not in touch with the world if they don’t keep up with it all. A dish network satellite system is considered to be one of the best ways to have this access, and at an affordable price as well.
There are two primary components that you need to have in order to get your news, sports and entertainment via a TV satellite dish system. The first component is the satellite dish antenna that captures the programming broadcast signal, which then relays that signal to the second component; the satellite TV receiver. This receiver then decodes the signal from the dish antenna and turns it into a signal that can be transmitted to your television.
The end result of installing a simple and straightforward dish network satellite arrangement is that customers are able to watch a wide array of TV shows right from the comfort of their own home. The satellite dish antenna does not have to be attached to a physical network of cables like the cable companies have. Because of this, people can receive satellite TV signals in rural areas where cable isn’t available.
A home dish network system picks up programming signals that are transmitted from the various satellites, which are orbiting thousands of miles above the surface of the earth. Many of the satellite dish antenna units now come with dual receivers, thereby receiving broadcasts from two different satellites at the same time, making it possible for a household to feed programming to two different televisions in the house. This has allowed the satellite TV companies to offer programming packages that include even more options.
At the same time, the dual receivers that are more common these days also allow you to use the picture in a picture, or PIP, function that is now a standard feature of so many of today’s televisions. This allows you to essentially be watching two shows at the same time with one channel being shown full size and the second being shown as a smaller picture within the large picture. Since you can see what is going on both channels you can easily switch back and forth between the two programs.
A more recent innovative feature of a dish network satellite system is the addition of a DVR, or digital video recorder, to the setup. With a DVR integrated into the system, a customer can watch one channel of live TV while recording a show on a different channel, making programming even more flexible. The DVR is one of the most requested optional services that satellite TV customers ask for these days.
Watch Your Movies With Plasma Television
November 1, 2008
Guys, you may want to cover your eyes for this bit of information. The plasma TV was not developed by men wanting a better viewing experience for their favorite sports. There, the truth has been let out of the bag, so to speak. Walk into any electronics or television store and you will see LCD and plasma television screens, but the first plasma screen television was invented to be used as a computer monitor.
It all began in 1964 at the University of Illinois. At this time, computer monitors were simple televisions. You have to realize that the televisions at this time were cathode ray tubes.
plasma [uc]tv[/uc]
They had to continuously refresh themselves in order to display correctly. That was a big problem when using a television as a computer monitor. Sure it was okay for watching tv shows, but the resolution for computers was terrible. By the end of the year the first plasma monitor was in operation.
Today’s plasma [uc]tv[/uc] has millions of cells that comprise the color and resolution of the screen. That initial plasma monitor was only one cell. However, it was still a step in the right direction. There was a set back, though. Liquid crystal displays became the more acceptable method and plasma technology was put on hold. Fast forward a few years and large flat screen sets became widely popular.

Where would the world be without technology constantly pushing it forward? Sure a plasma TV did not put man on the moon or allow for cell cloning, but it was a huge development at the time and has greatly affected the economy. Three years ago a plasma television 42 inch wide was considered only for the rich and famous. Today, many consumers can now afford to own one of the panasonic plasma tv technological marvels.
Thank you scientists at the University of Illinois for bringing men and women everywhere the ability to watch games on a plasma TV. Where would technology be if necessity had not demanded you devise a new computer monitor? We would probably still be watching our big screen television sets and never knowing that a clearer picture was possible at a decent price.
