Extra Added Benefits And Accessories Of GPS Devices And GPS Navigation Systems –
Most GPS systems have the expandability feature of being able to be upgraded with numerous products, such as MP3 player, DVD player, iPod integration, and even Bluetooth. You can add your favorite systems for playing music, and more with your affordable aftermarket GPS navigation system.
The Different Types Of GPS Navigation Systems –
There are two main different types of GPS navigation systems and devices that you can get for your vehicle. This is a brief look at these two different types of GPS devices.
Portable: Portable GPS systems are made to be attached by suction to your windshield (at the top) and are powered by your DC outlet or cigarette lighter outlet. These are great because they are portable. If you are going to be using someone else’s vehicle or renting a car you can simply take the system out of your car and use it in another. You can also get a portable GPS system that uses batteries so you do not have to use your DC outlet. Portable GPS systems are versatile, but they are also only able to be used for navigation and have a smaller screen size.
In Dash: In dash GPS systems have more features than the portable ones. They will come with a touch screen system, larger screen size, replaces your radio, and creates a navigation system and sound system for you in one machine. You can find an in dash GPS device for almost any vehicle and it will be installed (and replace) where your vehicle’s radio was. All of the options mentioned above – DVD player, MP3 player, iPod integration, and Bluetooth are available with these systems.
More About GPS Navigation Systems And Devices –
Upgrade your delorme gps navigation when it comes up with the updates you need. This will keep your unit working good and have updated information in your system. The maps are already on the hard drive of your GPS navigation, but you can easily get online and get the updates you need for your GPS system and load them onto your unit. Some GPS devices require that the updates be from a DVD and then inserted into the system to be loaded. On these ones you can get yearly DVDs to upgrade your GPS.
A GPS navigation device can change the way you look at traveling and create one spot for all of your navigational and audio needs in one convenient place in your vehicle.
High Definition Televisions
September 8, 2008
More and more, a high-def TV is becoming a part of the average American home. Unfortunately, most homes are not really designed to accommodate these often-huge sets, and they wind up being in the way rather than an enhancement to the home decor. However, with creativity and a little bit of sweat and cash equity, you can make your High Definition Televisions add value to your home.
Creative Living Room Enhancements
Start with your living room, the destination for most high-def televisions. Wall mounts for Plasma Televisions and LCD TVs are expensive to install and often difficult to place exactly right; because you need studs in strategic places, you may find that some homes are not suited to them at all.
So instead of a wall mount, which can be unstable even in the best of situations, install a special space just for your LCD TV: a cavity in the wall designed to hold your television in exactly the right place for perfect viewing. You’ll have to tear out some drywall to do this right, which is a great excuse for your next step: wiring your living room for surround sound. In non-custom setups, cabling for good surround sound must be run across the floor, creating a hazard for humans and equipment alike. If, however, you install good wiring from your wall mount or cavity over to the perfect spots for your surround sound stations, you conceal your wiring completely, make a more secure environment, and add some real value to your home.
Don’t Forget the Bathroom
When I was a kid, I always thought the ultimate in luxury was having a television in the bathroom. This is more feasible today than ever. Run cabling into your bathroom to the blank wall that is ideal for your high-def TV, then install your wall mount. If you have a properly-designed bathroom, you may find the acoustics great not just for shower singing but for natural surround sound; otherwise, you should consider the same solution you used for the living room.
As a final touch, put a mirror screen over your bathroom high-def TV. This clever screen disguises your LCD or plasma TV as a useful mirror, but when you turn it on, the screen is as clear as if nothing were there at all.
The Media Room Addition
The ultimate home value enhancement today is the dedicated media room. With perfect acoustics (often including wall carpeting) and full wiring as well as ideally-situated wall outlets and LCD Televisions screen friendly lighting, this room is a perfect add-on or renovation.
If you’re considering major home renovations in the near future and you love your high-def TV, consider one of these enhancements for your home. You might be surprised at how much value they can add to your home - and even when they don’t add straight value, they can ensure your home sells faster, if you should choose to move in the future.
Wi Fi Hotspots -What And Why
September 4, 2008
Originally we all had problems connecting via Wi Fi wireless devices because different manufacturers systems couldn’t talk to each other. This made the idea of WiFi hotspots a bit pointless. Eventually though, the Wi Fi alliance was formed to address this problem and soon set industry standards that are now followed.
Since the early days things have moved fast and now there are Wi Fi hotspots all over the place meaning we can connect to the internet while out and about. Wi Fi hotspots vary in size from perhaps an area covering a small coffee shop allowing consumers to work on their laptops while enjoying a coffee to an entire hotel or airport so that travelers can get online anywhere within the building.
Even some cities are experimenting making their entire city center a Wi Fi hotspot to encourage small business start ups as well as consumers.
Wi Fi enabled devices include things like game consoles, MP3 players, Personal Digital Assistants (PDA) and some cell phones as well as the obvious laptops. This list is expected to grow over the next few years and we can expect to see free Wi Fi hotspots increase world wide too and eventually internet access will be readily available in any populated area.
Blu Ray vs HD DVD - Ref Stops Fight
September 3, 2008
If you were one of the sensible consumers who waited to see the outcome of the Blu Ray vs HD DVD war, the wait is over and Blu Ray won after the referee stopped the fight in the 7th round to put HD DVD out of its misery. If you jumped the gun and didn’t wait for the outcome, hopefully you backed the winner!
So what is Blu Ray? It is simply the next level of data storage. A dvd disc can hold 4.7GB of information where as a Blu Ray disc can hold around 15GB. This extra room means there is now the space to record video with a lot more detail; High Definition.
High definition means more dots per square inch so the picture is so much more sharper and clearer but you will need a HD ready TV to see the benefit.
One of the reasons Blu Ray won the Blu Ray vs HD DVD battle was the Sony Playstation. Blu Ray was invented by Sony who pulled off a master stroke by shipping their Playstation 3 with a built in Blu Ray player. The graphics are next generation on the Playstation 3 and it was a great advert for their Blu Ray system.
It’s not the first time Sony have used this marketing tactic. Playstation 1 made many sales because it came as a CD player and games console and Playstation 2 came as a DVD player/games console.
Movie buffs who were on the fence in the Blu Ray vs HD DVD fight were swung by the fact if they purchased the Playstation 3 they got a free top of the range games console thrown in.
Hardened gamers who weren’t sure which games console to go for went for the Playstation 3 because it had the added bonus of a Blu Ray player built in to keep the wife happy.
HDTV Made Easy
September 2, 2008
HDTV is not like any previous advances made so far. It is a massive leap forward bringing crisp, clear pictures never seen before into the home. People are not simply bragging (this time at least) when they go on about how fantastic the picture and sound quality is on their new HDTV. It is the biggest break thru in home entertainment since color TV arrived in the home.
HDTV does have its problems though, not least the fact that it requires completely new products and systems to get the most from the new technology. Your DVD movie collection for instance will look good on a HDTV but nothing compared to how it could look had the DVD been recorded in high definition. It wasn’t though because a dvd disc simply didn’t have the room. You would have been changing disc every 10 minutes or so! New recording systems had to be developed of which the winner is Blu Ray.
So if you want to get the most from your HDTV you will need to replace your dvd collection with Blu Ray which at the moment are quite a bit more expensive than a DVD. Obviously, you will need a Blu Ray disc player to play the discs but the good news here is that a Blu Ray player can play your old DVD collection so the DVD player can go.
Your cable and satellite provider won’t be broadcasting in high definition either, at least for now. This means that after watching a Blu Ray movie in glorious high definition, your favorite TV show is going to look pretty awful. Don’t get me started on the sport either because golf is the reason HDTV’s were invented!
DirecTV were the first to try and fill this gap and broadcast in high definition. It’s caught on fast and other satellite providers are are starting to follow suit.
If you are into gaming you are going to want to make the most of your HDTV by hooking up a Playstation 3. The graphics and sound in the new generation of games really takes advantage of the HDTV capabilities by using Blu Ray.
As you can see, it’s not just a case of buying a new HDTV and plugging in, it’s a complete new start in your home entertainment system. The good news though is that HDTV and Blu Ray is here to stay so you don’t have to worry about buying all this new gear only for something else to come along next year.
